Celebrating 50 years of TBWA (2): when anticonformism feeds creativity

TBWA’s 50th anniversary celebrations this month are an opportunity to look back on half a century of advertising around the world. After the first chapter (1970-1983) of last Monday, here is Episode 2 of our series, dedicated to the year 1984: a pivotal year for TBWA which decides that year to get closer to the very young creative agency of South Africa, Hunt Lascaris, and which sees the birth in France of the BDDP agency (with which TBWA will merge in 1999). But also a historic year for the advertising industry with the launch of APPLE’s McIntosh created by the Californian agency CHIAT DAY (which will become TBWA\Chiat Day in 1995) via the famous film “1984” which will go down in history as one of the greatest advertising films.
