Here’s a bit about me…

I started at the bottom of the ranks at the agency, then known as Bates Wells Partners.

Through the 30 years with the company, navigating through the several ownerships and name changes, and doing courses in various other agency related disciplines, I moved through several positions and roles within the agency, gaining complete understanding of all aspects of the business.

Qualifying as a Graphic Designer in 1990, I started as a Junior Visualiser at the age of 21. Moved through all positions within creative, until I found my niche in design, moving to the Design division within the then Bates South Africa called Cerca.

In 2002 I was promoted to Creative Director of Design at TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Durban, and later appointed to the management team in 2005. In 2007, with the resignation of the heads of Tequila (TBWA’s specialist design company), I was appointed Managing Director of Tequila. With the support of James Porter (ex CEO of TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Durban) and the late Richard Cassels (MD of TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Durban), I was given the opportunity to drive new initiatives within TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Durban. One such initiative was the introduction of a video production facility, Tequila\Motion, within the agency. This was a first for an ad agency at that time. Tequila\Motion is now a fully fledged Video, Sound, Radio and TV production facility within TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Durban, handling all such productions internally. This division continues to focus on research and development, now exploring new opportunities in digital mediums and virtual conferencing spaces.

In 2016 I was appointed Deputy Managing Director of TBWA\ while my direct reporting lines remain primarily Tequila\Design and Tequila\Motion.
